For some Harry Potter fans, Christmas came early today with a magical twist taking over the usual commuter trip home.
The Hogwarts Express was due to leave Dublin from Heuston Station at 8.10pm this evening – well, at least according to all the train signs.
Spotted by reader Ailish Allen, the Hogwarts Express had seven carriages, with stations listed as the infamous houses Hufflepuff and Slytherin…

It seems magic really was in the air, with Twitter users sharing the timing schedule updates online as well:

Unfortunately, it seems the reasons behind the wizardry addition is still top secret, with Irish Rail yet to respond to customers about the unusual extra route added to their service.
We’ll just have our fan-girl moments in private so…
At least they were decent enough not to send passengers on the hunt for Platform 9 ¾.
**Update**
Thanks to reader Marie Hodgson, we have since learned the train and its passengers was organised by Trinity College – with coaches of students dressed up in Harry Potter attire.
We just have one question.
Next time, can we come?
Thanks to Ailish Allen for sending this our way!
