After watching her dad skin his own head, she wanted to lose her locks.
Speaking to Today, Paige Lucas-Stannard said she told her daughter she was concerned about her decision to shave her hair off – telling her she faced a lot of criticism and anger.
Not to be deterred, her little girl answered in a matter-of-fact manner:
"That's silly; girls can wear their hair any way they want.”
Paige wrote about the encounter in her blog, saying she was hesitant to try and change her daughter’s mind – and was proud of how her daughter didn’t cry or throw a tantrum post haircut:
"I probably could have said, "Honey, you are so beautiful [with your hair],' and manipulate her into not shaving it.
“Either way, I would have told her that her appearance is important TO ME and that she exists for the consumption of others. That how others view her is more important than her internal voice, sense of adventure, and inherent value. That her decisions should be made based on external “rules” and not her own sense of what is right or wrong for her.”
And it seems Paige’s daughter Aellyn loves her new look.
