Whether you’re a big fan of reading, or happen to dive in and out of a book before bedtime, you’ll know there’s nothing worse than getting half-way through a tale to find a page missing… or torn.
So when one little boy Jackson conked out when reading his Asterix tales, he felt guilty that a page tore in the book.
Writing a letter to Toronto Public Library, the young reader wrote:
“I am sorry that a page ripped when it fell out of my bunk when I fell asleep reading, it won’t happen again. I’m sorry. From Jackson”
The letter has now gone viral and the library staff are now on the hunt for Jackson to put his mind at rest.
The library said they can’t track down Jackson because their system only records the last borrower for 24 hours after they return an item.
Searching for the mystery bookworm, branch manager Daniel Colangelo said:
“Actually, we’d just thank him for writing that note and tell him that we were able to repair the book, no problem. I’d be curious to know if he knows all the attention he’s been getting, and what his reaction would be.
“The second reason is that it’s a nice feeling that kids are still reading in bed and still enjoy books.”
If he ever meets Jackson, Colangelo added that he’d like to thank him for the letter and tell him not to worry:
“Accidents happen. We’re well-equipped to fix books. We do it all the time.”
