Photo: Mmmm Glow-in-the-Dark Ice Cream is a Thing Now

Would you try it?

Una Kavanagh

UK-based company Lick Me, I’m Delicious has come up with this rather unusual ice cream that glows in the dark!

“We found this amazing scientist from China who has managed to synthesise the luminescence protein from jellyfish” writes founder Charlie Francis.

“Naturally we wanted to have a go with some of the stuff, so we ordered some, played around and eventually made this.”

The bright ice-cream, made using calcium activated proteins from the jellyfish reacts when you lick it to give it an unmistakable glow. Mmmm tasty.

But is it safe to eat?

“I tried some and I don’t seem to be glowing anywhere, so we’ll go with a yes for now” writes Francis.

The scoop itself is quite expensive though with each one coming out at about £140.
