Over the Hill at 29? Our Battle with Age Begins as We Near Our Dreaded 30th Birthday

We might have been happy with our appearance up until now but new research has shown the struggle with aging begins in our late twenties.

Getting old is something all women fear during our twenties although we try our best not to think about it.

However, a new survey has revealed that by the time the clock strikes on our 29th birthday panic begins to set in and we put the wheels in motion to battle against time.

You may remember a happier time when we applied gaudy red lipstick and tied our back in an effort to fool a bouncer who knew well we were underage but our perception and acceptance of age greatly alters as we near our thirties.

Our main fears are the dreaded wrinkles, sagging boobs, bingo wings and crow’s feet.

Thinning hair is a major worry for three in 10 women, and a third of us worry about the appearance of those pesky grey hairs.

The average female reckons she spotted her first wrinkle at 29 as such she now spends up to 12 minutes each day fighting the signs of aging by applying a variety of creams and make up.

That’s the equivalent of 73 hours a year, or three entire days dedicated to an anti-aging skincare and beauty routine!

Andrew Groom, Buying Director of Superdrug who is responsible for the survey said: “Some women may always worry about how they look, but it is incredible to think that those who are still in the prime of their life at age 29 are already worrying about the effect aging will have on their face and body.

“That said, it’s really never too early to take care of your skin, and today’s women are lucky that products on our shelves really work.

“A quick skincare routine started at 29 really will combat the signs of aging and it’s got to be worth the effort.

“Luckily today’s products not only work, but when such high-tech innovation as that in our new range can be found at such a good value price, we’re really making anti-aging accessible to everyone,” he said.

While we’re all fretting about getting old now, back in the day six in ten of us wore high heels, short skirts and tons of foundation in an effort to look more mature

Sigh. We think it’s about time we stepped up our beauty routine!
