One Man and His Bike: Is This The Most Romantic Valentine’s Present Ever?

Forget the flowers and chocolates, this guy's gift to his girlfriend is really romantic!

In November 2011 a guy called Payam Rajabi got a new job in San Francisco but had to leave his girlfriend Clare behind in Toronto.

To make up for the fact that they were so far apart he came up with an innovative, and very sweet idea, for their first Valentine’s Day as a long-distance couple.

This is the route Payam cycled for Valentine’s Day last year.

Using his bicycle and the GPS tracking on his iPhone, he marked out a heart-shaped route especially for Clare.

It spanned 27 miles, took two and a half hours and burnt up over 1,000 calories. Talk about devotion!

And this is Clare, the woman he did it for.

Writing about the idea on his website, Payam said: “With out first ‘long distance Valentine’s Day’ fast approaching I came up with an idea to make her smile: I would complete a ride around San Francisco in the shape of a heart and track it.”

And it seems that we and Clare weren’t the only ones to fall in love with the idea as Payam was asked to repeat his journey by an ad agency. Just goes to show that love works in many mysterious ways!
