On Home Ground: Her.ie Takes On The Irish Cricket Team

In our brand new series, our resident sports fanatic Mary takes on some of Ireland’s top athletes to see if she has what it takes to compete with the best.

From chatting about their rigorous training programmes to taking us on to the pitch and right into the middle of the action, some of Ireland’s biggest names show Her.ie how it’s done.

This week, we were out with the Irish Cricket team ahead of their T20 World Cup qualifier in Thailand.

Mary says: I have never played nor really ever watched cricket so I was really excited to be given the chance to learn from the best of the best in Ireland. We headed out to Balbriggan to train with the Irish Cricket team before they head to Thailand for the T20 World Cup qualifying campaign. From bowling to batting and putting on loads of protective gear (and I'm not quite sure how they're going to run in all of that in the heat of Bangkok), we were certainly put through our paces. https://youtu.be/awsQsY73Zws They were all really patient despite my complete lack of hand to eye coordination and we'll certainly be cheering them on every step of the way on their Road to India. #COYGIG #BackingGreen.
