We’ve heard about some unusual wedding proposals in our time but we have to say that this one seriously ranks as the strangest one we’ve come across.
Amir Michaeel decided that the obvious romantic gestures like getting down on one knee or booking an intimate weekend away just weren’t him and that he wanted to do something special and different. So he got in contact with cheap deals website Groupon and asked them if they could help him pop the question.
Yes, Amir asked Lydia Guirguis to marry him on a deals website. Groupon altered thousands of users to the ‘grouposal’ that was taking place and sent it out as part of their daily newsletter.
When anyone clicked into the offer, they were met with the words ‘Valid forever, limit one per Lydia.’ D’aww. You have to admit, it is pretty cute.

“Lydia likes to be creative but it felt like the longest 15 minutes of my life,” said Amir, speaking about the proposal.
So what did Lydia think of the gesture? She was absolutely thrilled!
“When I opened the Groupon email and followed the link, I went into complete shock. I couldn’t speak. Then Amir popped out. It felt really original so he got it right!” she said.
Well, we’ll definitely give him an A+ for effort! What would your dream proposal be like?
