Ladies, how do you like your cocktails? While most of us tend to enjoy them with a side order of girly gossip a new bar in Japan believes it has discovered what women really want – alcohol and a place to chat about female masturbation. Yep, you read that right: female masturbation.
Love Joule, a new bar in the Shibuya district in Tokyo, has become the first love and sex bar that is solely dedicated to women. Basically it offers us ladies a safe place to chat about love, sex and getting to grips (ahem!) with ourselves.
“Once they take a seat, customers are able to experience a pleasant place in which they can openly discuss masturbation,” said Love Joule owner Megumi Nakagawa, speaking to the Huffington Post.
“Since most people view female masturbation as something of a mystery or taboo, it is not a usual topic at typical bars,” she adds.
Definitely not – could you imagine telling your friends the nitty gritty details of your solo sex life? It could get a bit awkward (especially for the people who accidentally overhear you). But the idea behind Love Joule is pretty awesome – it’s all about breaking taboos, getting rid of the idea that masturbation is dirty or wrong and encouraging women to talk about sex.
The interior of Love Joule is definitely turning heads: check out the vibrator collection!
The bar is already turning heads with its colourful, over-the-top interior design – behind the bar instead of having bottles of spirits on show, there are display cases filled with row after row of vibrators.
Love Joule has already become a major hit with women in the area and according to reports it’s all down to the fact that it offers them a safe space to speak about topics which are usually not broadcast in public. The sanctity of Love Joule is also protected by the fact that single men are not allowed enter the bar – men can only visit the pub if they are accompanied by a woman.
While we’re not sure if you’d ever find us dancing on the tables in Love Joule you have to admit it’s definitely an interesting idea. Do you think something like this could work in Ireland? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
