“New Job, First Day, Slightly Nervous”: Peter Capaldi Begins Filming Doctor Who

Scottish actor Peter Capaldi has taken the reigns and begun shooting his first scenes as the new Doctor Who. The Thick of It star, who’s taking over from Matt Smith, began filming this week in Cardiff. The Doctor's companion this time around is Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman, and the opening episode will be set in Victorian times.

Arriving on set the star said:

Capaldi: “New job, first day, slightly nervous. Just like the Doctor, I'm emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.” — BBC Press Office (@bbcpress) January 7, 2014
