Nestlé Are Latest Company to Be Hit by Horsemeat Scandal

The food company have had to withdraw a number of products from the shelves in Europe but don't worry, the chocolate bars are okay!

Nestlé are the latest company to withdraw a number of products because of the horsemeat scandal.

The Swiss-based firm said that it had not been affected last week but has now revealed that two of their meat products were found to contain traces of horse DNA.

 

Two meat pasta products have been pulled from the shelves.

According to reports the two chilled pasta products, Buitoni Beef Ravioli and Beef Tortellini, have been pulled from the shelves in Italy and Spain.

In a statement Nestlé Europe said: “We have informed the authorities accordingly. There is no food safety issue.”

 

Nestlé is one of the largest food companies in the world.

The company added: “We want to apologise to consumers and reassure them that the actions being taken to deal with this issue will result in higher standards and enhanced traceability.”

Lidl was another company who recently withdrew products from stores in Finland and Sweden. The horsemeat scandal has dominated the headlines in recent months leading to widespread investigations throughout Europe.
