As the summer of 2015 slowly slips away from our grasp, we're all dreaming of a few days spent on sunny foreign shores.
Aer Lingus understands. A recent survey carried out on behalf of the airline has revealed that 40 per cent of Irish adults are suffering from post-holiday blues, with 44 per cent blaming ‘The Fear’ of returning to work as the most common symptom.
A huge 64 per cent of Irish people admit to alleviating their gloom by booking a holiday during the working week.
Other findings from the survey included:
According to 90 per cent of respondents, it takes two weeks to ‘get over’ your holiday and return to emotional health
Almost half of Irish adults (46 per cent) believe the best way to get over the post-holiday blues is to book another one Two thirds (66 per cent) of Irish people are not content with the number of holidays abroad they take per year One fifth (21 per ceny) don’t take all of their annual leave allocation Nearly three quarters of the population (72 per cent) agree that travelling abroad will improve your mental well-being and general happinessWomen, in particular are worst affected by the post-holiday blues with 45 per cent feeling heavy-hearted following a holiday compared to just 33 per cent of men.
It's not all bad news though, as the survey was commissioned to mark the launch of Aer Lingus' ‘Need Another Holiday Sale’ started.
The sale starts today, Thursday 27th August and runs until midnight 14th September 2015. It includes more than one million seats to over hundred routes with fares starting from €19.99 one-way to Britain, €29.99 one-way to Europe and from €209 each-way to North America.All sale fares are valid for travel from 1st November until 30th April.
