Although achieving viral status seems to be the holy grail of 2015, stories like these remind us of the many downsides.
When mum-of-five Elizabeth Boyce posted an Ikea bed-hack which allowed her entire seven-person family to co-sleep, she did not expect the level of attention, both good and bad, the post would receive.
The hack quickly did the rounds online, with many applauding the creativity and resourcefulness of the idea.
However, in a new YouTube video, the Texan mum has tearfully revealed that she has been plagued with abuse claims since the photo went viral.
She said: “I feel like there’s a lot of judgement, and hate, and honestly I really thought that people were nicer than they are.”
She adds that she and her husband Tom are doing the best they can to raise their children to be “loving, compassionate, healthy adults.”
She revealed that she conceived of the bed idea after a hard year of unsuccessful sleeping arrangements, and that the minute any one of her children decided they didn’t want to sleep in the bed any more, they would make an alternative plan.
