Barack Obama returned to his hometown of Chicago last night and gave his farewell speech to the American nation.
Obama, who lead America for eight years, spoke of how people should have faith in democracy and never stop fighting for it, urging everyone to:
“Show up. Dive in. Stay at it. Sometimes you will win, sometimes you will lose.”
He paid tribute to wife Michelle, his “best friend”, his daughters, Malia and Sasha saying that his role as their Dad is the one he’s most proud of while also acknowledging his staff and their trojan work.
Malia sat beside her mother in the audience and was visibly moved by her father’s words with many taking to Twitter to discuss the emotional moment.
Malia Obama was in tears the whole speech. I feel you Malia, I feel you ?
