If you’re feeling a little sensitive, take this as your word of warning.
Harry Scott is an elderly man who dines in his local McDonalds in Workington, Cumbria at least six days a week.
Monday to Saturday, Harry takes the opportunity of sitting in the restaurant to have a conversation and take away some of the loneliness he feels since his wife Martha died two years ago.
On a Sunday he stops into his goddaughter’s house for dinner.
After he became a widower, and having no children of his own, Harry took to stopping in to the chain restaurant and having a happy meal:
“The kids who come in here are mine as I don’t have any of my own. It’s company for me.”

So, when it came to Harry’s birthday celebrations, the staff decided to mark it in a special way.
According to Metro UK, the team decorated Harry’s usual table and gifted him with whiskey and shortbread.
Oh, and his usual order or a Happy Meal is free for life from now on.
Harry was so moved by the gesture he said:
“When they threw the surprise party I had to wipe my eyes.”
Speaking about their elderly friend, McDonald’s worker Jack Holliday, said:
“He’s a one-off. We get regular customers but he’s one that stands out. He’s bubbly and full of life, especially for a 93-year-old.”
