As he got up in the early hours of the morning, he mistakenly picked up his partner's passport instead of his own.
Michael didn't realise what he had done, and got through security at the airport with no problems. He then had to use the passport again as he was boarding the plane, and again, nobody noticed.
And if you're wondering, Michael and Charlotte look nothing like each other - he's male with short brown hair and she's female with long blonde hair.
He told the publication that it wasn't until he landed that he realised what he had done, and thought it he must rectify the situation immediately.
"It’s outrageous I got that far. EasyJet are meant to check the name against the boarding pass but they obviously didn’t. It’s very worrying as I don’t even look like Charlotte.
"Honesty was the best policy so I went and told security. [They] pulled me aside and made me wait for the whole plane to disembark.
"At first I thought they were going to confiscate Charlotte’s passport."
Michael explained that he went through intense questioning by security, and once they were happy with his answers, they gave him a one-day visa into the country.
He was lucky because his friend was travelling over to Germany from the UK later that day, and was able to grab Michael's passport before he left, so there were no problems getting home.
A spokesperson for EasyJet told The Independent that the company is "investigating how the passenger was able to travel from London Gatwick with the incorrect documentation."
What a strange situation!Life
