We have another heart-warming story for you today. It’s guaranteed to get rid of that winter chill and make you feel all happy and warm inside, trust us!
A wealth man from Missouri has been dressing up as Santa and handing $100 bills out to people in Staten Island who lost everything to Hurricane Sandy.
Known only as “Secret Santa” the man, who is believed to be a wealthy businessman, has said he is planning on giving away $100,000 (around €77,000) during the holiday season. Although according to this kind Santa, the money is not the issue.
“The money is not the point at all. It’s about the random acts of kindness. I’m just setting an example, and if 10 per cent of the people who see me emulate what I’m doing, anybody can be a Secret Santa!” the man said.
After hearing about the man’s kindness, local police offered him a special motorcade (complete with sirens) to help him carry out his random acts of generosity.
Secret Santa has been spreading joy in New York
When Secret Santa met a woman whose home had been severely damaged in the super storm collecting free food at a nearby disaster centre, he asked her if anyone had given her any money.
The woman responded no and the man gave her a wad of money.
“But this isn’t real money!” said the woman, looking at the red “Secret Santa” that was stamped onto the bills.
“It is, and it’s for you,” said Secret Santa.
According to reports, the woman broke down, thanked Santa and hugged him. The man continued spreading good will and giving money to the less fortunate.
Secret Santa will not divulge his name and will not allow his face to be photographed, but he has claimed that he’s visited dozens of cities across America and carried out his random acts of kindness there too.
“…I hope I give all my money away before I die,” the man told local news reporters.
Fair play to Secret Santa – we imagine he’s bringing joy and hope to a lot of people down on their luck this Christmas. For another feel good story, check out the one we ran yesterday about a kind-hearted police officer who bought a freezing homeless man a new pair of boots.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: isn’t it nice to see that kindness still persists in the world?
