There's a mac-book air... and then there's this...

A man who bought sold his surf-board to afford a laptop on eBay for £300 has been left disappointed when instead of a mac, he opened a box… with a photocopy of the computer inside.

Paul Barrington entered a bidding auction for an Apple MacBook, bidding £300 for the machine.

The 38-year old was delighted when he was named the winning bidder, but was disappointed when a feather-light package turned up.

Instead of the latest lightweight mac-air there was something else paper-thin waiting for him…. A photocopy of the Apple mac he thought he was buying.

Paul, who sold his surfboard for the bid said:

“I sold my pride and joy for a piece of paper. It’s the first time I haven’t had a surfboard since I was 10 years old but I need a laptop so I checked the listing and the seller’s rating.

“He’d been a member for a few years, so there was nothing to be suspicious about. I was excited about winning the auction and just thought, ‘I’ve got a laptop so I can start the business’.

“The package was as light as a feather. Why bother sending a picture in a box? It doesn’t make any sense. I almost had to laugh.”

The surfer hoped to use the laptop in a new business venture, but will now have to wait to find out if he will receive a refund from eBay.
