If you’re finding it difficult to get in the mood for a romantic night in, you might just benefit from putting on one of your favourite tunes.
Leading sex therapist Dr Laura Berman has said that the link between music and sexual arousal is very strong.
In fact she draws on a recent study by psychologist Daniel Mullensiefen that shows that more than half of people admitted that music had a greater impact than the touch of their other half.
Dr Berman also revealed that your favourite tunes aren’t the only thing that can help you enjoy your late-night session and that all of the senses are important.
Eating chocolate regularly is also said to have an impact on your sex life.
She explained: “Touch might seem like the holy grail of sexual enjoyment, but the truth is that all of our senses work together to create the perfect orchestra of pleasure and excitement.”
Apparently women that eat chocolate on a regular basis are said to have a better sex life than those who don’t because it increases desire and satisfaction.
And that’s not the only food that comes in handy in the bedroom department. Both cucumber and liquorice are considered to be the best scents for sexual arousal.
The smell of cucumber is believed to increase sexual arousal.
As well as that, Dr Berman quoted the findings of a study by the University of Rochester which found that women are attracted to the colour red.
So the next time you and your other half are planning on getting down and dirty make sure you’ve eaten chocolate, he’s wearing red, the music is playing and there’s a cucumber in the room!
