Today we’re paying homage to the humble spud by celebrating National Potato Day, but we’re not the only ones.
Dublin based company Sam’s Potatoes is teaming up with Gallagher’s Boxty House and Sophie Morris, author of ‘Sophie Kooks.’
They'll be out in Temple bar this evening from 5:30pm – 7pm offering free tastings of a specially devised potato recipes as well as free samples of delicious Sam’s Potatoes.
“The consumption of Ireland’s unofficial food has declined in the last number of years and we hope that Friday’s event will help reignite everyone’s love of potatoes and show how versatile the simple spud can be” said Sam Dennigan Jr. sales and marketing manager with the potato company.

“Potatoes are a quick, delicious and nutritious option both for lunch and dinner and we would encourage people to come and see us after work on Friday and join in the fun.”
The national awareness day organised by Bord Bia aims to raise awareness for Ireland’s unofficial food and encourage people to eat potatoes.
