Ladies, we have to ask you the following – lucky underwear, do you have any? Is there a certain bra/knicker combo that you feel grants you a bit of good fortune whenever you wear them?
We only ask because apparently six out of 10 men have a pair of lucky underpants that they wear in order to increase their fortunes on a first date. Yes, seriously.
A new survey, conducted by dating website For 2, has revealed that the modern man tends to go to extreme lengths in order to impress a lady on a first date and that pride in their appearance is high on their list when it comes to getting ready for a date.
And most men believe that wearing a pair of lucky boxers or briefs beneath their clothes makes them feel more confident, charming and boosts their capabilities when it comes to wooing the female of the species (eh…whatever gives you some self-confidence boys…)
As well as donning their favourite lucky pair of pants, over a third of men buy new clothes for the occasion and almost a fifth get themselves a new haircut to impress their date. Would you believe that one in 20 actually go on a diet before the big night?
6 out of 10 men rely on their “lucky pants” for a first date confidence boost.
The survey of over 1,000 men found that one in five would happily ensure their chances of getting a second date by uttering the words “I love you” via text (but definitely not in person).
“A first date is very important for both men and women as the first impression really counts. Men are becoming as careful about their appearance and grooming as women have always been on dates,” said a spokeswoman for For 2.
“It could be the TOWIE effect; people are getting more used to seeing men looking after themselves, with fake tans and carefully coiffed hairstyles and good physiques. But even though they are putting more effort into their looks, most men are still quite superstitious and have lucky pants which get dug out and worn on many a first date,” the spokeswoman added.
Do you have any pre-first date rituals? And also ladies, seriously, would you freak out if a fella sent you an “I love you text” after a first date?
