Is this the cutest story ever? Um…yeah we’re inclined to think so. Mainly because it makes us believe in the power of true love. Aww. If you’re in need of a little bit of cute this Friday evening, then let us tell you the tale of Taco, the lovesick emu. Yes, really…

Four-year-old Taco, the Emu, somehow managed to scale a four foot garden fence in his bid to find a lady companion.

The feathered fugitive may have escaped in the name of love, but he actually ended up causing chaos on a motorway in Florida yesterday morning. Apparently Taco approached several cars and a man on a scooter, looking for a female emu to call his own.

“It’s breeding season for Taco and he thought he knew where some females were so he jumped a four foot fence,” said his owner, Paul Eaton, speaking to WTSP.

“He felt it was time to move on, close to females, and he hopped the fence,” Mr Eaton added.

A love-struck emu caused chaos on a Florida motorway.

Police officers struggled to calm Taco down before his owner arrived at the scene of the crime to take him home.

“It’s a very large bird. It’s odd and not something we see every day,” said Officer Alex Herrera, the police man who had to deal with the amorous bird.

“I think our guys did a really good job in trying to contain the bird. At the time of the incident folks were trying to get to work, we had school buses going around so it became a traffic hazard,” Officer Herrera added.

Taco’s relieved owner said that the emu is now back at home recovering from his adventure and has, for the time being, given up his search for his feathered female counterpart.
