Limitless And Good Will Hunting – The Best Movies On TV This Week

It's our picks of the week.

Sue Murphy

There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are seven of the best films that are on TV this week.

1. Shawshank Redemption, Monday, ITV2, 9pm.

Often listed as one of the greatest films of all time, this prison break movie is like no other. Smart and emotional with some amazing performances, this is definitely worth your time on a Monday night. If you have seen it, no doubt you will watch it again.

2. As Good As It Gets, Tuesday, Sky Movies Greats, 10.30pm.

A role for which Jack Nicholson deservedly one another Oscar, he made us want to be better people, never mind wanting to be a better man.

3. Limitless, Wednesday, RTE One, 9.35pm.

Bradley Cooper happens across a drug which allows him to access all parts of his brain in order to become a working genius. It doesn’t really matter that the brain thing is a myth. This is just some fun.

4. Salt, Thursday, Film 4, 9pm.

Originally meant to be the first film in a reported series, Jolie kicks some ass as Agent Salt. Basically, if you were looking for an actress to play an action role, this was your girl.

 5. Sweet Home Alabama, Friday, RTE One, 9.35pm

Yes, it’s just another one of those rom-coms but with Reese Witherspoon, it just reaches another level of charming. Plus, you do get to hear a cracker of a track quite a few times throughout the film.

6. LA Confidential, Saturday, RTE One, 11.55pm.

Sadly missing out on an Oscar for best film, LA Confidential is wonderfully old school with some amazing performances from the likes of Guy Pearce and a new discovery in the form of Russell Crowe.

7. Good Will Hunting, Sunday, TV3, 9pm.

We lost the great Robin Williams last week but he lives on in some of his great roles, particularly in the wonderful Good Will Hunting. Get the box of tissues in, it’s going to be upsetting.
