There’s nothing more exciting and festive than watching your local Christmas lights being turned on for the holiday season, however shoppers in Essex were left disappointed when organisers actually forgot where the ‘on’ switch was.
Yes, hundreds of people who had turned up to watch the festive light unveiling at a shopping centre went home without any kind of Christmas cheer after a mix-up meant that no one (not even Santa himself) could figure out where the hell the ‘on’ switch was.
The Telegraph reports that carol singers, a choir and Santa had gathered for the event, but things quickly went downhill as organisers rushed around trying to solve the problem and eventually admitted that the ‘on’ switch was nowhere to be found.
Shoppers were left disappointed after the lighting event failed to happen
The good news is that a clever person finally discovered it the next day. Although by then it was far too late.
“There was no malfunction of the lights – it was more that the people malfunctioned,” said a spokesman for the event.
“All the lights are now on and working fine,” the spokesman added.
Well, that’s good to know. However in future we’d advise keeping a map on hand to avoid any frantic searching…
