There’s an old saying which states that you should never go to bed angry. However, according to a new survey, Irish couples spend more time arguing in bed than having sex.
The Irish Sun reports that a new survey, carried out by the hotel chain Travelodge, revealed that the vast majority of us bicker with our other half three times a week before we hit the hay. This means that we waste 90 minutes of valuable sleeping time having a row.
As part of the survey, 2,000 Irish couples in long-term relationships were asked to name the reasons why they fought as soon as they got into bed.
Unsurprisingly fidgeting, snoring, farting and not wanting to have sex were the main culprits. Inconsideration, hogging the duvet and making noise were also in there.
“Our research highlighted that bedtime shows bickering is a growing concern in Ireland,” said Shakila Ahmed, a spokesperson for Travelodge.
The main causes for fighting? Snoring, farting and not wanting to have sex.
So how can you avoid picking a fight with your man as soon as you get into bed together?
It’s important to remain considerate. If your partner is a light sleeper, try to keep noise to a minimum. If you get freezing cold in the middle of the night, explain to your partner that he needs to stop hogging the duvet.
If fights between the sheets are a regular occurrance between you and your man, it might be worth sitting down and having a honest talk away from the bedroom.
Sharing a bed with your other half can be enjoyable but if it’s causing you to lose sleep and/or fight like cats and dogs it’s probably worth trying to reach a compromise that will keep you both happy.
