Knock, Knock, Who’s There? 665,000 Passengers, That’s Who

We know where we're going on the holidays this year...

It has been 28 years since Knock Airport opened its doors and last year business was a holy terror, (sorry, we had to).

With flights to 25 destinations, the airport had 665,000 passengers last year, making it the second busiest year in history.

Things haven’t peaked yet, as the folk at Knock expect numbers to exceed 700,000 for the first time in 2014.

Managing director of the airport, Joe Gilmore, said that they’re looking forward to the year ahead.

“We are looking forward to the year ahead being the busiest in the airport’s history with four new services being launched, extra capacity on our key London services and the Wild Atlantic Way project getting underway,” Gilmore said.

Four of Europe’s largest airlines use the Mayo location, with new routes to Eindhoven in The Netherlands, Glasgow and Lithuania planned for the coming months.

Knock, any one?

To celebrate the booming numbers, here’s a bit of Christy Moore for the occasion. Good man, Christy.
