RTÉ has axed Raw on the day the cast were expecting to hear that series six was going ahead.
According to reports the kitchen drama, which continued to bring in impressive viewing figures, will not return due to budgetary constraints.
The show will not be returning for a sixth series.
Tara Lee, who plays Emma on the show, told the Irish Star: “It came as a complete shock to everyone I think.
“We’d usually find out the dates for the next series at around this time of year and we assumed that was the case this time around. It came as a bolt from the blue when they said it wasn’t going ahead.”
Actress Tara Lee said that the decision came as a “shock.”
RTÉ’s Commissioning Editor Jane Gogan said that it wasn’t an easy decision: “The decision to stand down the production of Raw has been a very difficult one for RTÉ to take but one which has become necessary in the context of current resources.”
But it’s not all bad news for Irish drama as this week the broadcaster committed to more of Love/Hate. Managing Director Glen Killane revealed: “The plan is to shoot more series. I can see more legs in it, but we won’t look beyond series five.”
