Frosty the snowman won’t be making an appearance on the lawn this Christmas as forecasters predict that Ireland will not see the snow this holiday season.
Despite a distinct lack of the white stuff forecasters have predicted a Baltic December much colder than average.
Speaking to The Mirror, Netweather meteorologist said: “Our forecasts obviously change on a daily basis and are constantly being updated but at this point we’re saying at best there’s a 20 per cent chance of snow in Ireland over Christmas.
Odds of a White Christmas have been slashed!
“It looks more like there’ll be a sprinkling of snow over the next few weeks and then it will get milder from the middle of the month.”
Despite this the bookies have slashed their odds of a White Christmas with Paddy Power offering a price of 9/4 for Christmas Day snow in Dublin.
However, the Christmas forecast has been welcomed by both motorists and Santa alike who don’t have to worry about icy roads and freezing conditions during the most wonderful time of the year.
