Morah Ryan won’t be the only one not reading Melanie Verwoerd’s book about her late husband Gerry Ryan. In fact nobody will be reading it. Well for two weeks anyway.

The controversial book entitled When We Dance was taken off bookshelves across the country yesterday due to a last-minute High Court ruling.

The book has already caused quite a stir despite being taken off the shelves.

According to reports, one of the late DJ’s friends, Dave Kavanagh, went to court to have the book banned. He wasn’t present yesterday but his legal representatives claimed that he has been defamed.

Judge Paul Gilligan granted an injunction preventing the book from being sold for two weeks. During this time, the book cannot be published, distributed or sold. No extracts can be published either.

The order was made against publishers Liberties Press who were informed on Tuesday evening.

Both sides will now appear in court for a full hearing on October 24th whereby a decision will be made about whether the memoir will be sold.

Melanie, who appeared in court yesterday, told reporters “Obviously the case is coming back on the 24th and at that stage our arguments will be put to the court. And really to comment before then is not appropriate”
