The woman behind Harry Potter is hoping to make her mark with a new set of characters as her novel The Casual Vacancy is released.

She finished the book series that made her famous five years ago but today Harry Potter will most certainly be in the background as JK Rowling’s new novel hits the shelves.

The book entitled The Casual Vacancy is Rowling’s first release in the world of adult fiction (and we’re not talking the erotic kind of adult fiction, we just mean fiction for adults). It is also her first novel since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

So you could say that the world-renowned author has quite a lot to live up to. Even still many, including ourselves, are predicting that the release which has been described as a darkly comic novel will be a huge hit.

JK Rowling created one of the most successful book series ever.

Speaking to the BBC about saying goodbye once and for all to Harry Potter, Rowling said it was “murder.”

Although she did admit that she would never say never to revisiting the world of witchcraft and wizardry.

The author says it’s unlikely that she will do another book about Harry Potter.

“But truly, where Harry’s concerned, I’m done. I just think it would be for the sake of milking it and that’s just not in me,” she explained before giving us a thread of hope.

“Now having said all of that, I have always left the door ajar because I’m not that cruel. If I had a fabulous idea that came out of that world, because I loved writing it, I would do it.”

It’s not much but, being huge Harry Potter fans, we’ll take it!
