Earlier on today, weather forecasters warned that temperatures would fall between freezing and minus 3 degrees.
It now looks like parts of the country will see snowfall overnight with Met Éireann predicting that 3-5 cms of snow will fall in the midlands and the North of Ireland.
The freezing conditions will mean a bitterly cold morning tomorrow and drivers are advised to take extra caution on the icy roads.
The cold spell will continue tomorrow but according to predictions, the weekend will be mild overall.
