Is This Irish Department Store Promoting The Most Sexist Christmas Gift Suggestion For Women In 2015?

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. We’re writing up our lists and heading out into the throngs of shoppers to hunt down the gifts for loved ones. We’re probably also silently totting up a few Christmas ideas to drop some not so subtle hints for what we might want from Santa. A new camera, box-set, a necklace… or a hoover? Well if you’re a woman in 2015, Irish department store Arnotts are suggesting the new Dyson hoover is the ideal gift ‘for her’. While shopping in Dublin city centre yesterday, Daniel McSweeney was strolling through the department store when he spotted a series of gift suggestions for the women in his life. They even left little tags on items – gift suggestions ‘for him’ or ‘for her’… Which would all be helpful and not at all insulting, until you get to the homewares department. Yes, we get that for some people, maybe this hoover is ideal. Maybe it’s the hoover they always wanted, or maybe it’s on special offer. Just maybe you shouldn’t automatically assume it’s for women.
