There’s no doubt about it – Christmas was designed for couples. During this time of year, it’s pretty much commonplace to see them waltzing around the city smugly, hand-in-hand, or making googly-eyes at each other over a mug of hot chocolate.
However, if you’re not coupled up don’t despair! For the single lady, Christmas is the perfect time to get yourself out there, to mingle with a few hot men and to nab a sneaky shift under the mistletoe.
If you’re planning on going on the prowl over the festive season, here are a few simple (and very tongue-in-cheek!) tips to ensure that you have someone sexy to smooch when the clock hits midnight on New Year’s Eve…

Christmas Pulling DOs:
DO invest in some mistletoe: The best thing about Christmas is the fact that mistletoe is everywhere. It’s in pubs, nightclubs, random shops, people’s houses – everywhere! Use this to your advantage by picking out your hot man prey and then, casually, leading him under the mistletoe for a festive kiss. Example conversation: “Can you just move to the left a little? No, a little bit more. Perfect! Oh look… there’s some mistletoe! What a coincidence!”
DO get your friends to introduce you: At Christmas, there are a lot of new faces in town mainly because everyone comes home to spend time with their friends and family. If your girlfriends just happen to know any hot, unattached men ask them to introduce you. Hey lady, there’s no harm in making the most of their connections, right?
DO buy a ridiculous, over-the-top Christmas jumper: The more ridiculous the better. Why? Well during this time of year your crazy, flashing Christmas jumper will provide the perfect conversation starter. Men love random jumpers. Fact. Wear that bad boy with pride and we guarantee men will come over for a bit of banter with you. Never underestimate the hot-man-beacon-like-qualities of the perfect festive knit.
DO attend your work Christmas party: All your work colleagues will be there, including that gorgeous guy who works in marketing. This is a no-brainer. Go, have a bit of craic and introduce yourself.
DO go ice skating: Rally the girls and take to the ice. Not only is it immense fun, but chances are a dashing gentleman could come to your rescue if you take a particularly bad fall!
Will you be pulling someone special under the mistletoe this year?
Christmas Pulling DON’Ts:
DON’T shift the first man you see: Christmas lasts for a while, therefore it’s important to pace yourself. Don’t settle for the first man who compliments your crazy Christmas jumper. There are plenty of fish in the festive sea, keep your options open. Besides, desperation is so not sexy.
DON’T lose hope: Even if you don’t find yourself a new gentleman friend over Christmas, there is a chance that you could get a sneaky shift on New Year’s Eve, so don’t stress about it.
DON’T force him to shift you: Eh, not that we should have to say this, but no means no ladies!
DON’T ask your parents to set you up: Unless you want to end up with a guy who is good marriage material…
DON’T drink too much: Too much alcohol + lack of hot men = poor judgement and settling. It may be the end of the year, but that doesn’t mean that we want to end it on a downer. Instead wait for someone who you actually fancy!
