Those who joined the Twitter game late in the day found it pretty difficult to get a user name that they were happy with.
NASCAR racer Ben Kennedy shares his name with a very obliging Westmeath man.
Irishman Ben received a friendly DM from his famous namesake asking how he felt about a bit of a Twitter handle switcheroo.
Chancing his arm and channelling his inner Bruce Forsyth, Kennedy responded to the request and said that he would be interested providing that the ‘price was right’.
The famous racing Kennedy, (hard to keep up, isn’t it), explained that his competition number was changing from 31 to 11 next season and asked for his address following Irish Kennedy’s request for ‘some gear’.
Irish Kennedy was bowled over by the American’s generosity and sent the story into our brothers over at JOE.ie.
After completing some extensive research (googling) JOE discovered that NASCAR ace had a bit of Irish blood in him.
‘Ben Kennedy happens to be the great grandson of Bill France senior, who co-founded NASCAR back in the 1940s. Bill’s mother, incidentally, was Irish’.
Look at JOE being such a fanboy.
Here’s how things played out…
What an absolute gent!
