The Irish Women’s Premier League Select squad finished on two wins and two losses in the JPEE Challenge in Luxembourg at the weekend.
The side were just too strong for Scotland on Sunday evening, but had to settle for second best against hosts Luxembourg on Monday in the final showdown.
The game against Scotland on Sunday was a nail-biter, with just one point separating the teams at the end of the first quarter.
The Irish side began to take the reins of the game in the second though, with Aoife McDermott, Niamh Dwyer and Sarah Woods all on target to increase their lead to 32 to 23 by the interval.
Scotland were determined not to give up, and closed the gap back to within three in the third quarter, but the Irish side held firm and came back to lead 58 to 39 heading into the last and finished on an 80 to 55 point win.
