Tralee has scooped Failte Ireland’s best large tourism town award, with Lismore winning the title of best small tourism town today.
The two towns tipped a poll of 10 towns listed, with Failte Ireland commending their work in “reaching out to visitors and creating the best possible tourism experiences.”

Both Tralee and Lismore were awarded with winning certificates, as well as a €5,000 grant towards further developing the towns as tourism destinations.
Other towns commended for their work included Cobh, Co. Cork, Killarney, Co. Kerry and Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny in the ‘Best Large Towns’ category, while Armore, Co. Waterford, Adare, Co. Limerick, Clonakility, Co. Cork, Kenmare, Co. Kerry and Sneem, Co.Kerry were noted for their contributions to the ‘Best Small Town’ category.
Announcing the winners today, Junior Tourism Minister Michael Ring said both towns “really impressed, with their local communities pulling together for the greater good”.
