SuperValu has been named Ireland’s favourite supermarket this week, with popular chain Tesco coming in second place.
According to The Irish Independent, SuperValu bagged top spot thanks to holding a 24.6 per cent share of Ireland’s grocery market in the 12 weeks leading up to November 8th.

Though after seeing their Christmas ad, we’re not too surprised.
The two big supermarkets have each achieved top spot a couple of times this year and SuperValu will undoubtedly be hoping to keep their leading position as the year draws to a close.
“This is the strongest growth rate recorded by SuperValu since August 2013, which the retailer has achieved by encouraging repeat shopping trips,” said Kantar director David Berry.
Dunne Stores came in third spot with 23.7 per cent, with Lidl and Aldi coming in fourth and fifth at 8.7 and 8.5 per cent respectively.
