Irish triathlon star Aileen Reid has climbed to sixth position in the world rankings following a fantastic fourth place finish at the London World Triathlon Series on Sunday.

The talented Derry woman finished the 750 metre swim in 17th position and after a good cycle, hit her stride in the final five kilometer run.

She clocked the second fastest run to finish just outside the podium positions in 4th spot in a time of 56.25.

“I’m really pleased, it’s finally coming together for me,” she said afterwards.

“Unfortunately I missed that front pack after the swim but I had a really great run, I didn’t think I was going to run that fast.

“I really feel like I want to be in the top ten in the world and these last three performances are what I’ve been really pushing for.”

Next up for Reid will be the European Games in Baku on June 13th, where Rio qualification will be up for grabs for the winner.
