Ireland can now consider itself more romantic than the French or Italians, according to figures released by online booking engine lastminute.com today. The site has revealed sales information which shows that we are spending far more than our European neighbours on breaks away for our other halves.
On average, we are spending about €886 on a two person break, which is almost 17% higher than the amorous French who are spending about €756. The Germans, Italians and Spanish follow with the Spaniards spending a mere €564.
Other popular destinations booked on the website were the “Eternal City” Rome, Amsterdam and Prague.

Even the most obvious choice for destination is not top of the list with couples favouring a trip to Barcelona over the City of Love, Paris. These couples are opting for breaks in four star hotels over a three day period.
Cupid has definitely been at work over the last couple of weeks. We notice Vegas wasn’t on that list….
