If you were as devastated as we were about the news of a prosecco shortage, we might just have the news to save your bank holiday.
Last week, the world (ok our office) were sent into despair when we heard our favourite bubbly could soon be a distant memory.
News travelled fast that due to a surge in supermarket sales, there may only be two month’s worth of the Italian drink left until the new harvest comes on the market. A wine supplier broke the news to Harpers.co.uk at the recent London Wine Fair, causing the world to despair.
In a positive turn of events, it now appears that the forewarnings were hasty and we will likely be sipping from flutes for months to come.
According to reports, although there has been an increase in demand, it still hasn’t been determined if there will be a shortage or if supplies are close to running out.
In fact, the term ‘shortage’ was a bit rushed. We can now all take a collective sigh, and release.
And if that’s not a reason to go out and toast with a glass of the lovely stuff, we don’t know what is!
Hurrah!
