Cathy’s Choice: Dance of a Lifetime

Cathy says: This story made me smile and cry which isn’t a mix easily achieved. I love flash mobs at the best of times but the fact that there was such a special thought behind this one makes it all the more lovely. Amy’s joy at seeing her close friends and family together in one place is a joy to watch, although it’s bittersweet considering her cancer is terminal.

Sue’s Choice: When Jesus Say Yes…

Sue says: My favourite story from this week was the piece about Michelle Williams new song with Destiny’s Child, Say Yes. There are no words for this track, you just have to listen to it.

Rebecca’s Choice: Got The Feelin’

Rebecca says: This HAS to be my favourite story of the week because it involved me speaking to one of my 90s idols. I used to be (still am in fact) a huge 5ive fan so getting to chat with one of the lads about the upcoming Big Reunion Boy Band tour was pretty special. It also gave me an excuse to put on Invincible the album which I proudly still have in my car!

Úna’s Choice: Colourful Creations

Úna says: I came across these really cool food art creations and knew that I had to feature them on site! Ukrainian artist and photographer Daryna Kosser has put together a rather delightful selection of food art, made from simple ingredients like condiments and fruit and they’re incredibly pretty and colourful.

Grace’s Choice: A Very Punny Split

Grace says: There’s nothing I love more than a good pun so this was a very easy choice for me. During the week Rory Mc Ilroy broke the news that he had called time on his engagement with tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki. The golfer’s decision to end the couple’s relationship divided opinions on social media. One person that was on the fence about the situation entirely was Aaron, who left this punderful comment under an article about the split. Well done, Aaron. Well done.

Michelle’s Choice: Pageturner Tearjerkers

Michelle says: I had a recent weekend to myself and happily spent much of the Saturday lounging in a lovely hotel room in Wexford. The weather was miserable, so I made myself a large cup of tea (later I poured myself some wine), put on some background music and settled down to read The Fault In Our Stars. A few hours later, I had cried out said tea and wine until there were no tears left. I heartily recommended this gorgeous Young Adult novel from John Green to the rest of the team at Her.ie, and it sparked a discussion about our favourite literary heartbreakers.

Liz’ Choice: A Beautiful Body Project

Liz says: This week I was rooting around some photography blogs when I spotted a new sell-out book, A Beautiful Body Project: The Bodies of Mothers. The collection of images celebrate women’s bodies and their ‘happy scars’ from becoming mothers. The photographer also documents each woman’s story on her website. I think it’s incredible that these women have shed their clothes to share the story of their bodies with motherhood. Simply put, it’s just a stunning album.

It helps that there are some cherubic babies snapped too!

Marie’s Choice: A Miracle Rescue

Marie says: This story from China makes you believe that miracles really do happen. The incident had all the makings of a tragic story until one man’s heroic efforts saved the day so it really put a smile on my face!
