Ibiza Rocks! Travel Tips for the Ultimate Party Island

It’s one of the top party destinations in the world, so we’ve got some top tips for Ibiza with Thomas Cook!

You’ll find us in the club…

Ibiza is renowned as one of the top clubbing destinations in the world, with world-famous DJ’s performing there year on year, including David Guetta and Fatboy Slim in 2012. If you’re thinking of letting your hair down on Ibiza this year, here’s our quick clubbing guide to get you started!

There are seven major clubs on the island of Ibiza:

  • Amnesia – located in the middle of the island, near San Rafael
  • DC10 – located near the airport on the road to Las Salinas.
  • Eden – located on the waterfront in San Antonio.
  • Es Paradis – located on the waterfront in San Antonio
  • Pacha – located very near the Ibiza Marina
  • Privilege – located in the middle of the island, near San Rafael
  • Space – located in Playa d’en Bossa, near the beach.

Known for its sophisticated clubbing  (VIP tables everywhere!), Pacha really is a playground for the rich and famous, attracting mega-star DJs such as David Guetta and Erick Morillo.

Eden is Ibiza’s second superclub, located right in the centre of San Antonio. Unlike some other clubs in Ibiza there is a dress code which means no football shirts, no beachwear and tops to be worn at all times.

Opening and Closing parties

Every year the Ibiza clubs kick the season off with their infamous opening parties! These opening parties tend to attract the best acts of the summer so if it’s the beats you’re after this tends to be a great week to hit the strip. The clubs keep going all summer until the closing parties in September. As Ibiza begins to wind down after the summer the clubs like to make sure you have one last party before they shut their doors. Again they bring back the best DJ’s for the last big night of the summer so you’re guaranteed some great nights out during the closing parties in September.

Ibiza Sunset bars

For a more relaxed, chilled out atmosphere – it has to be the Ibiza sunset bars. A visit to Sunset Strip in San Antonio is a must for every visitor. The idea is a simple one, you sit by the shores of the bay of Calo des Moro in San Antonio and admire the stunning sunsets to a backdrop of ambient and eclectic music provided by the DJ in the bar… bliss!

Destination focus:  San Antonio

San Antonio is not only a beautiful resort for holiday makers with a picturesque harbour, broad sandy beach and palm-lined promenade leading from Caló des Moro through to the bay, it is also the stepping stone to Ibiza’s famous clubbing scene. San Antonio is home to a huge range of bars, clubs and restaurants as well as waterfront clubs Eden and Es Paradis. Meanwhile Ibiza’s other super clubs like Amnesia, Pacha, Space, Ushuaía Ibiza Beach Hotel and Privilege are all about 15-25 minutes away in a taxi, setting you back about 15-30 Euro’s a trip. The sunset strip already mentioned is undeniably one of San Antonio’s most talked about landmarks and definitely worth a visit.

Aside from offering tourists a perfect nighttime package, San Antonio is also full of daytime entertainment; whether you opt for an adrenalin-fuelled excursion such as parasailing or scuba-diving or a relaxing day at the beach there is something for everyone and the resort is also popular with teenagers and holiday-makers seeking an action-packed stay.

Las Salinas Salt Flats

If you want to tick some of the touristy spots off the list then you should definitely check out one of Ibiza’s most famous landmarks – Las Salinas Salt flats. Located to the south of the Spanish island, the salt fields were created by the Carthaginian group of merchants and traders over 2000 years ago as a means of extracting salt from the evaporating sea water. As the water evaporates during the hot summer months, a sparkling layer of pure salt is left sparkling at the bottom of the lakes. Arrive in the early evening to get a pic at this incredible sunset spot.

Downward-facing dog…

Not a crazy cocktail or a dodgy dance move! Escape the craziness of Ibiza – take a night off partying to rise early the next morning and clear your mind while enjoying a breakfast yoga class on the beach. The luxury Amante beach club has introduced a programme of classes on its open-air terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. The yoga classes are hosted by expert teachers easly in the morning to avoid the heat – the cooling sea breeze helps as does the view of the turquoise sea with nothing but the occasional passing boat. Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 and cost depends on the teacher. Chill out after the class with a freshly made smoothie! The classes take place in the cooler months of the year – September – October and May – June.

From party to pamper

Ibiza is the ultimate for escapism so during your holiday we recommend you try one of the fabulous spas available in Ibiza. One such spa is the Atzaró Spa, an oasis of tranquility nestled amongst fragrant orange groves, when you enter you are immediately transported to the distant shores of Bali. Treatment temples, built by authentic Balinese carpenters, provide the ultimate in relaxation, seclusion and peace. Centred around a lily pond and featuring handcrafted ceilings and original Indonesian artwork, prepare for your senses to be hypnotised as your mind and body unwinds.

Relax and soak up the sun on the amazing pool deck – an amazing location to watch the sun set – after your gym session, shower, sauna and jacuzzi or be spoilt for choice by the range of different treatments on offer, including massages, facials, manicures and pedicures.

For glowing skin, try a soothing traditional Balinese facial including acupressure massage of hands, arms, legs and feet or for all-over rejuvenation we love the heavenly Atzaró de Luxe massage – a combination of Swedish, Thai and Shiatsu with reiki and reflexology.

Finish up with some lunch – nibble on snacks and sip on fresh juice from the Healthy Bite bar, brought directly to your sun lounger or dine in the main restaurant where you can even wear your fluffy white robe to the table!

Shop ‘til you drop

If your style is bohemian then you have to check out the unique and modern hippie haven 07800 Ibiza, a fashion boutique on the popular shopping strip of Calle de la Cruz in Ibiza’s La Marina. Look out also for fashion label Bohema which is available in selected Ibiza retailers. This collection by Ibiza designer charlotte Kennedy is achingly cool.

Meanwhile set just minutes from the Santa Eulalia beachfront, the all new Ibiza boutique Queens of Joy offers something for all occasions from daytime hippy-chic and evening glam to sexy swimwear and cute clubwear  for its super stylish clientele. The ever-expanding brand list goes on of course, with a special mention reserved for the many varieties of the super-popular California Christiana Republic (CCR) one-piece jumpsuits – worn by celebs like Rihanna and Katy Perry and as seen in Privilege’s club parades – and 100 percent exclusive to Queens Of Joy in Ibiza.

Plan your party package…

Club 1830 offer event packages in each of their destinations and Ibiza is no exception! While the events have not yet been announced for 2013 – you can expect to enjoy poolside parties, beach barbeques, sunset cruises, full moon parties, Ibiza live boat party and more.  The events are a great way to meet more people and are a lot of fun so don’t miss out – make sure you ask your rep about the events and make the most of your Club 1830 holiday.
