Former X-Files lead and star of the new series, The Fall, Gillian Anderson, has spoken about how she turned down the possibility of a role in Downton Abbey.
The actress was offered the role of Cora but said that she turned it down as it took her away from spending time with her family, according to Now magazine.
‘My 18-year-old cannot believe that I would turn down Game Of Thrones or Downton – things she loves to watch,’ she commented.
‘But if I am going to be spending that amount of time working on something I would rather be working with a director like Martin Scorsese.’
Instead, Anderson accepted the role of Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson in new thriller series The Fall. Working on the show allowed Gillian to return home every weekend to see her children.
But giving up the chance to play Cora? Bit crazy…
