Yesterday, we noticed an obituary on Imgur that broke our hearts. It was dedicated to Harold Jellicoe “Coe” Percival who had died in a nursing home at 99 years of age.
Harold was a World War II veteran, but had never married, had no close friends and funeral organisers didn’t know of anyone who could attend his funeral.
However, there are plenty of people going to give Harold a lovely send off now.
After the obituary circulated online, many announced that they would attend the former veteran’s funeral.
Harold, who helped with the famous Dambusters raids during the Second World War, died at the end of last month in a nursing home.
Most of those who have circulated the plea to attend the funeral are former military men who have asked comrades to provide a proper send off for Harold.
The service for his funeral will be held, quite aptly, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
