There has been a huge debate online about whether or not it's acceptable for guests to bring their own drink to a wedding. We're talking naggins in the toilet type of job. One person brought up the topic saying, "Smuggling alcohol into a wedding reception? Would you? Have you?! Did you get caught?!" The reaction has been very mixed - there are those who think it's perfectly fine to do it because drinks are too expensive at wedding venues, and there are others who think it's an absolute disgrace. It's more than just the idea of not buying drinks. It massively impacts the bride and groom - they have spent a lot of money to create the special day. One person said that they knew of a couple who had been charged for 'lost sales' after the venue found all the empty bottles consumed by their guests. Here are some of the comments for the smuggling:

"Because once you've spent hundreds on the hen party, the hotel, the gift etc... £8 a glass of wine is the last thing you feel like paying!" "I did it. Hotel, middle of nowhere, extortionate bar prices. We were already paying to stay in the hotel, so I took a hip flask with vodka into the reception. Just bought cokes and topped up. One of the brides knew and even had some herself, thought it was a great idea." "I did this once at a night out. Gift wrapped a wine box in lovely paper with ribbon etc. Cut a hole for where the tap was and stuck a big bow over it. Bow got removed to top up the wine and then replaced again. Worked a treat."
