Can you tell how promiscuous someone is by looking at their hands?
According to a new study, the answer is yes.
The research was carried out by Oxford’s Department of Experimental Psychology and Northumbria University and involved asking people from across the UK and North America were asked how they felt about “non-committal” sex and looked at scans of 1,314 hands.
According to Pink News, it was found that people who had a longer ring finger than index finger were more likely to be promiscuous and those who had a longer index finger are more likely to value fidelity.
“It is important to note that these differences are very subtle, and are only visible when we look at large groups of people. Human behaviour is influenced by many factors, such as the environment and life experience, and what happens in the womb might only have a modest effect on something as complex as sexual relationships,” said Oxford professor Robin Dunbar.
