He’s Back! – Yet Another Familiar Face To Return To Eastenders

We weren't expecting this!

Cathy Donohue

Deano Wicks, played by Matt diAngelo, is the latest familiar face to make a return to popular soap Eastenders.

He begins filming in February joining Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Stacey Branning (Laney Turner).

Matt plays the part of Shirley Carter’s son and his return is part of a storyline that will have “massive implications” for the Carter family according to show bosses.

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: “Matt is a gorgeous, charming, talented actor and it’s fantastic that he’s agreed to come back to the Square. Deano left angry with his mother.

The Dean who returns is angrier. Shirley has been secretly hoping for her son’s return. Let’s hope she doesn’t regret that.”

Deano is set to return to the soap

Since he left the show, Matt has had parts in dramas including Hustle and Death in Paradise but is looking forward to playing Deano again.

“It’s such an exciting time for the show and the Carter/Wicks family that I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to reprise the role of Dean! I’m looking forward to getting back on the Square” said diAngelo in relation to his imminent return.

Shirley (Linda Henry) is of the opinion that her son is working in Australia and is left shocked to discover he is actually a lot closer to home and now goes by the name of Dean.
