One young woman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa was told to “behave herself” as her mother left for a short trip out of the state.
So Emily Anne decided to write a fake article about herself and have her neighbour send her mum the link.
She said she is very good at “testing the limits of her [mum’s] sense of humour.”
Emily Anne posted her elaborate prank on Reddit and was praised for her somewhat cruel ingenuity.
However, after hours of praise, she later posted this confession; her mother had in fact heard about the prank before she read the fake article.
I’m sorry to dash everyone’s hopes, but she was told about this post by a family member before she read the fake article. She jokingly said I was damn lucky too because she would have kicked my ass for this if she had fallen for it. She called me a brat and told me to have fun with my internet friends. She then reminded me to make sure to let the dogs out so they don’t pee in the house and to feed them.
Ah, Emily Anne… we can’t help feeling it would have been so much better if you’d keep it top secret until the right time! The prank certainly had potential…
