If you’re nervous about what to do in the event of a terrorist attack, you should run and hide according to new documents leaked by UK officials yesterday.
According to Mashable, a document ‘Developing Dynamic Lockdown Procedures’ gives advice to businesses on how to train staff in emergency procedures – including a list of what not to do to stay safe.
The plans were drawn up after the recent Paris attacks, where 129 people were killed late on Friday night.
So how should you react to an act of terror?
The document advises that if you can’t run, you need to hide. Also be sure to turn your phone to silent, and if you can see the attacker, he or she are likely to be able to see you.
The main nuggets of advice can be seen in a screengrab of the policies advised online:

Despite reports from survivors of last week’s attack in Paris, the document advises against playing dead in an attack – warning it won’t give you the necessary time to flee or hide for cover.
Other notes include a warning that some officers responding to the incident ‘may point guns at you, treat you firmly or be unable to distinguish you from the attackers.’
According to the National Police Chiefs’ Council, the anti-terrorism guidelines were leaked, and not intended for widespread public consumption outside of controlled training programmes.
It is expected UK authorities will release a procedure protocol to deal with emergency reactions in the case of an attack next week.
