Forecasters are reporting that a cold weather front is set to hit Ireland later this week bringing with it some widespread snow showers.

According to reports, the recent bout of mild weather is set to end with frost and a drop in temperatures forecast to arrive from Wednesday.

“From Wednesday onwards, the weather will change dramatically,” forecaster Siobhan Ryan told The Irish Mirror.

“There will be strong winds with scattered wintry showers. The showers will be fairly widespread due to the force of the wind.

“It is likely that most parts of the country will get a light dusting of snow,” she continued, adding that temperatures may drop as low as -4 degrees.

“It will feel far colder with the wind chill taken into account… The worst days will be Wednesday and Thursday.”

There are currently no weather warnings in effect on Met Éireann’s website, however these may be issued as the week progresses.
